The Cosmoprof trade show continues to extend its global reach. The event, organised by Italian group BolognaFiere, has gained a strong reputation after being held for over 50 years in some of the world’s main markets, and is set to broaden its footprint, offering more networking opportunities all year round to thousands of beauty industry professionals. Regularly held in Bologna, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, Mumbai, Bangkok, and, from 2024, in Miami and Riyadh, Cosmoprof is the ideal trading partner for stakeholders operating in the cosmetics sector globally, and for companies with a specific focus on individual regions.
“Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna’s strong international orientation, and its ability to adapt its format to different markets, are the elements that still determine [the show’s] success as a benchmark platform for a community of more than 10,000 companies and more than 500,000 operators on five continents,” said Gianpiero Calzolari, president of BolognaFiere. “Our network is evolving in line with the needs of a constantly changing sector, developing innovative digital projects and services to make it easier for businesses to grow, and anticipating new industrial trends and solutions. Thanks to the collaboration with our partners abroad, Cosmoprof is now a globally recognized brand, enabling us to continue to offer advanced business solutions to support the industry’s growth,” he added.
The global cosmetics industry is worth $427 billion, according to the 2023-2027 beauty sector report by consulting firm McKinsey & Co. The industry’s revenue is set to increase by 6% annually, and is expected to be worth $580 billion in 2027. In this highly competitive scenario, Cosmoprof events stand out for their ability to feature top-notch exhibitors presenting industry novelties from all over the world, and to organise high-quality forums with well-regarded experts and opinion leaders. Via digital services tailored to the needs of individual companies, and the know-how of its highly qualified staff, Cosmoprof helps stakeholders broaden their connections and develop new projects, making Cosmoprof events an increasingly strategic opportunity for suppliers, manufacturers, brand owners, buyers, distributors, retailers and those interested in new growth solutions.
In 2024, Cosmoprof will extend its reach with the global beauty community by holding two new sessions. On January 23-25 2024, Cosmoprof’s presence in the USA will be boosted by a new event, Cosmoprof North America – Miami, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, in a joint venture with Informa Markets and the Professional Beauty Association. This new edition will be a destination for brands looking to maximize their commercial potential in the Americas, focusing primarily on the US East Coast. The event is expecting over 500 exhibitors, between industry suppliers and skincare, make-up and haircare brands. The show will feature nine national pavilions, from Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Korea, France, Germany, Turkey, and South Africa. Miami is a strategic location. Thanks to significant infrastructural development in recent years, it is home to the headquarters of some of the industry’s leading players, and the numerous events regularly held in the city foster a vibrant business community.
Cosmoprof is also set to land in Saudi Arabia. Cosmoprof Arabia, scheduled in Riyadh from November 27 to 29 2024, is designed to help beauty companies find out about access regulations and market trends in the Middle East. According to Euromonitor International, in 2022 the Middle Eastern beauty market generated a total revenue of over $64.7 billion. By the end of 2023, the sector is expected to be worth $66.8 billion. Local government initiatives in favour of tourism and international business have further boosted consumption, and cosmetics sales are steadily growing. A new generation of local consumers, with higher spending power and a focus on aesthetics, mental and physical well-being, as well as a sustainable, high-quality approach to personal care, are a potential target for multinationals and foreign brands. Middle Eastern consumers are increasingly searching for and buying new products online, making it easier for international brands to expand in the region, and helping local brands to grow. “The [Middle East] has extremely attractive growth prospects for the cosmetics industry. Contacts between international brands and local players are increasingly frequent. Thanks to its prestige and experience, Cosmoprof is the ideal partner for discovering these markets,” said Calzolari.
In the last few months of 2023, Cosmoprof has chiefly been active in Asia. The 26th edition of Cosmoprof Asia has just ended, having at last returned to its roots, in Hong Kong. On November 14-17, more than 2,400 exhibitors from 44 countries and regions, and 65,582 visitors from 119 countries, gathered in Hong Kong to discover trends and experience new products aimed at Asia-Pacific markets. Cosmoprof Asia reaffirmed its role as Asia’s leading trade show, welcoming more than 400 senior executives from 45 countries, including Australia, China and Hong Kong, Europe, India, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, the UK and the USA. The next Cosmoprof Asia Hong Kong will be held on November 12-15 2024.
The next scheduled Cosmoprof event will take place in Mumbai, where Cosmoprof India 2023 will be held on December 7-9 at the Jio World Convention Centre. In recent years, the event has become increasingly interesting for local and international players: Cosmoprof and Cosmopack India reflect the buoyant growth of India’s industry, and they notably help global brands enter the Indian market, and those of neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Nepal. The number of exhibitors at this year’s edition is up 26% compared to 2022, with the number of international brands increasing by more than 44%. Total exhibition area has also increased, from 10,500 square metres in 2022 to 15,000 square metres in 2023.
Earlier in the autumn, on September 14-16, the second edition of Cosmoprof CBE ASEAN, organised by BolognaFiere, Informa Markets and Shanghai Baiwen Exhibition Co. Ltd, was held in Bangkok, Thailand. The event turned out to be a strategic opportunity for both local and international brands. The exhibition area of about 17,000 square metres hosted over 1,000 exhibitors – 57% of them from outside Thailand – and welcomed more than 13,255 visitors, equivalent to a 78% rise over to the previous edition. The next Cosmoprof CBE ASEAN is scheduled on June 13-15 2024, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok.
In the USA, Cosmoprof North America Las Vegas is the go-to industry event. Its 20th edition was held on July 11-13 2023 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, with highly positive results. Attendance grew 20% over the previous year, as the show welcomed thousands of industry professionals and over 1,100 exhibitors from 108 countries. Cosmoprof North America is regarded as a springboard for new brands, revolutionary technology, product innovation, and new production, packaging, and distribution solutions. The 21st edition of Cosmoprof North America Las Vegas will be held on July 23-25 2024 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Cosmoprof is a partner of several other international beauty events, as it aims to foster useful synergies within the industry. In Europe, after acquiring German group Health & Beauty in 2018, BolognaFiere Cosmoprof has consolidated its leadership by directly managing the Beauty Forum network, consisting of over 20 well-established events dedicated to the beauty treatment sector in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Hungary.
The collaboration with Informa Markets in the USA has enabled Cosmoprof to partner the Premiere Show Group, which organises professional beauty events in the cities of Anaheim, Orlando, San Antonio and Columbus, supporting an international network of professionals, students, educators and the best brands in the industry. In Asia, BolognaFiere Cosmoprof is a partner in trade events in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, China (with South China Beauty Expo) and Vietnam.
