JAMES FORREST hasn’t played for Scotland since 2021.
But one pundit reckons a return for the Celtic hero at Euro 2024 isn’t out of the question following his goal against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

Forrest, 32, was previously a regular under Steve Clarke before he lost his place after falling out of favour at Parkhead.
Capped 38 times, the winger has netted five goals for the Scots and returned to the score-sheet for Celtic against the Saints today.
The experienced wide-man is no stranger to a goal against St Johnstone and his goal today was his 11th in all competitions against the Perth side.
And while it’s been a two-year absence from the national team for Forrest – his last appearance coming against Czech Republic in Euro 2020 – Michael Stewart reckons he could be in Clarke’s plans for Germany next summer.
Scotland know they will face the hosts, Hungary and Switzerland at the tournament following Saturday’s group stage draw.
Now Forrest has been tipped to join his Tartan Army pals in the competition.
Speaking on Sportscene, presenter Jonathan Sutherland asked former Hearts and Hibs midfielder Stewart if he believes the 32-year-old has a chance of featuring in the tournament.
Following his goal in Perth, Sutherland asked: “He would have seen the draw for Euro 2024 yesterday and he’ll be thinking ‘I’m only 32 years of age’.
“Could he make a run for the back post Michael?
Stewart replied: “Well, when Steve Clarke came in, he was the go-to man.
“He was a very important player, and do you know what, it wouldn’t be the most ridiculous shout James Forrest sneaking into the squad.”
Stewart admits a place in Clarke’s squad is unlikely for Forrest but reckons it’s not out his reach.
Meanwhile, the Celtic hero wasn’t the only Scotland Euro 2020 star in form this weekend.
Former Tartan Army No.1 and current Hibs stopper David Marshall shined against Aberdeen at Easter Road and kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 win before taking home the Man of the Match award.
Veteran Marshall, 38, pulled off some terrific saves to see off the resilient Dons and even denied Bojan Miovski late on from the penalty spot.
He also helped create Hibs’ opening goal despite a mis-hit goal-kick as his pass dropped straight to Martin Boyle who was through on goal before laying it off to Dylan Vente to slot it home.
