Vanderpump Rules: Ariana Madix readies for Broadway debut with ‘Chicago’

“Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix is all set to make her Broadway debut with “Chicago.”

The 38-year-old actress will play the role of as Roxie Hart, previously portrayed by Gwen Verdon and Ann Reinking, for an eight-week limited engagement between January 29 and March 24 at the Ambassador Theatre.

Announcing the news on “Live with Kelly and Mark”, Madix termed it a “dream come true”.

“It’s just the biggest dream come true,” she said. “I cannot believe this is real life. I’m going to cry.”

Madix, a recent finalist on “Dancing with the Stars,” pursued musical theatre at Flagler College before making her mark in Los Angeles. Initially residing in New York with aspirations for Broadway, she later tended bar for Lisa Vanderpump. Notably, Madix was involved in the “Scandoval” controversy on “Vanderpump Rules,” exposing her boyfriend’s seven-month affair with a close friend. Despite the challenges, she has starred in a Lifetime movie, featured in multiple commercials, authored a cocktail book, and is gearing up to launch a sandwich shop in Los Angeles alongside her “Pump” castmate Kate Maloney.

Following the recent closure of “Phantom of the Opera,” “Chicago” now holds the title of the longest-running musical on Broadway. This classic production, crafted by Kander and Ebb with influences from Bob Fosse, revolves around Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly—two spirited murderesses attempting to exploit their fame while awaiting trial in jail. Director Rob Marshall successfully adapted the musical for the silver screen, leading to the 2002 Oscar-winning film featuring Renee Zellweger and Catherine-Zeta Jones.
