Former Celtic duo ‘in frame’ for head coach role at Queen’s Park

QUEEN’S PARK are considering a move to make Scott Brown or Charlie Mulgrew their new head coach, according to a report.

The Spiders parted company with Robin Veldman last night after the 4-1 home defeat to Caley Thistle.

That represented an 11th game without win and leaves Queen’s in eighth spot in the Championship – just two points ahead of bottom side, Morton.

The ambitious board will now begin the search for Veldman’s successor.

And according to the Daily Record, both Brown and Mulgrew are in their thinking.

The former Hibs, Celtic and Aberdeen midfielder is looking to get back into management after leaving Fleetwood Town earlier in the season.

He has also been linked with the managerial position at Sunderland.

Brown’s former team-mate Mulgrew recently hung up his boots and is said to be keen to move into management or coaching sooner rather than later.

The report also says that Gary Bowyer, who led Dundee back to the Premiership last season then quit just days later, is also in the frame.

Queen’s are going through a turbulent spell after sporting director Marijan Beuker departed for a role with Ajax last week.

Recently sacked Rangers boss Michael Beale’s name has also been mentioned as a potential successor at the Stadium of Light.

Current Ibrox coach and former Sunderland star Alex Rae could also be a replacement for the English side.
