CAT Results 2023: Maharashtra emerges as top-performing state with highest achievers

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow on Thursday announced the CAT 2023 Results. Candidates who have appeared in the Common Admission Test 2023 can check and download their CAT Scorecard 2023 from the official website at iimcat.ac.in.
Maharashtra has emerged as the top-performing state in the country in the CAT result 2023, boasting the four highest rankers and four candidates achieving a top 100 percentile score.Following closely is Telangana, with two candidates achieving a 100 percentile score. Additionally, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh each have one candidate who achieved a 100 percentile score.
Similarly, Maharashtra has secured the top position in the 99.99 percentile range, with nine students achieving the second-highest score. The third-highest score of 99.98 percentile was also dominated by the highest number of students from Maharashtra, with approximately eight students achieving this score.

Following closely, Delhi takes the lead in the 99.99 percentile range with seven high scorers. In the 99.98 percentile range, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, and Delhi emerge as the second-highest leading states, each with three scorers in that percentile range.
In the 100 percentile range, all are male candidates while in the 99.99 percentile range, 28 are males and 1 is a female candidate and in the range of 99.98 percentile, again all are males.
Out of 14 toppers in the 100 percentile range, 11 candidates are from an engineering background while 3 are from a non-engineering background. In the 99.99 percentile range, 22 candidates are from the engineering background and 7 are from non-engineering background. In the 99.98 percentile range, 20 candidates are from an engineering background and 9 are from a non-engineering background.

The CAT 2023 exam was held on November 26, 2023, in three shifts at 375 test centers spread across 167 cities in the country.
Around 2.88 lakh candidates appeared for the CAT 2023 exam out of around 3.28 lakh enrolled eligible candidates. The overall attendance was approximately 88%. Out of the 2.88 lakh candidates appeared for the examination, 36% were Females, 64% were Males, and 5 candidates were Transgender.

IIMs will now release their shortlists for subsequent admission processes based on, among other things, the CAT 2023 scores. 91 non-IIM institutes will also use CAT scores 2023 this year for admission into their management courses.
