BOXING Day is next week, and it’s the prime opportunity to go hunting for a TV deal – but there’s a lot of different options out there.
Overwhelmed by the sheer volume of smart, 4K, OLED, QLED and Fire televisions to choose from? Fear not: we’ve picked out the best Boxing Day TV deals below.
- TV deals – shop at Amazon / Currys / John Lewis / AO
TVs come in a range of sizes and price points from the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips, Hisense, Panasonic and many more brands besides.
This year, Amazon joined the market when it launched three different ranges of Fire TV, the 2-Series, 4-Series and Omni televisions.
With all those serial numbers, acronyms and jargon to wade through, we know hunting for a genuinely decent TV deal can be exhausting (especially on Boxing Day, when you’re probably nursing a headache anyway).
If you want to wall-mount your new television, there are also our best of the best TV wall brackets to buy.
Before you purchase a TV make sure you know which TV size you should buy and how to measure a TV screen.
Live Boxing Day TV deals
As the Boxing Day sales creep closer and closer, some shoppers may already be keeping their eyes peeled for bargains on 4K UK TVs.
Here is a pick of early TV deals that are available online right now – though we can’t guarantee they’ll still be around on the far side of Christmas Day.
1. Amazon Fire TV 40-inch 2-Series HD TV, £269.99 (was £299.99) – buy from Amazon
Amazon’s line of televisions only hit the market in 2023, and the 2-Series is the most affordable range of the bunch.
Certainly if you’re after a no-nonsense, no-frills smart television that comes with a reliable smart platform (that’s Amazon’s home-grown Fire TV), you could do far worse than this modest-sized 40-inch set.
The £30 discount isn’t a huge one, but it makes a TV that’s already great value for money just that little greater still.
If you’ve got a bigger budget, you might want to take a look at Amazon’s Omni range instead, which have QLED screens. For an in-depth look at both lines, read our Amazon Fire TV Omni Series vs Fire TV 4-Series explainer.
- Amazon Fire TV 40-inch 2-Series HD TV, £269.99 (was £299.99) – buy here
2. Amazon Fire TV 65-inch Omni QLED series 4K TV, £699.99 (was £999.99) – buy from Amazon
As mentioned above, the Omni range is Amazon’s high-end line of smart televisions, featuring QLED tech that you’ll see mostly in sets from the likes of Samsung (brighter brights and stronger contrasts).
Here, frankly, is where the discounts are genuinely impressive: on the 65-inch set, you can save a hefty 30%.
See how this range compares to Sky’s all-in-one rival in our Sky Glass vs Amazon Fire Omni TV article.
- Amazon Fire TV 65-inch Omni QLED series 4K TV, £699.99 (was £999.99) – buy here
3. Panasonic TX-43MX600B 43-inch Smart 4K TV, £299 (was £329) – buy from Currys
This budget-friendly box from Panasonic has been given a £30 discount over at Currys.
Despite the low price tag, it still sports some impressive credentials, such as sound powered by Dolby Atmos and an Auto Low-Latency mode that’s targeted at gamers who want to avoid that annoying juddering you often get in lower end sets.
- Panasonic TX-43MX600B 43-inch Smart 4K TV, £299 (was £329) from Currys – buy here
4. Hisense A6K 50-inch 4K Smart TV, £298 (was £329) – buy from AO
If you’re on the hunt for a mid-size TV (though just a few years ago, a 50-inch TV was still considered very large), take a look at this Hisense set over at AO.
The A6K has built-in AI-powered upscaling, meaning that it finetunes and optimises whatever you’re watching in real-time.
A budget-end telly that looks perfect for larger viewing spaces.

What to look for when buying a TV
The Sun spoke to Henrik Schmidt, Head of Category TV at Currys, to find out what you should be looking for in a TV.
He said: “Consider investing in OLED / Neo QLED TVs as these technologies will provide the best picture quality.”
If you’re a gamer, Henrik recommends looking out for HDMI 2.1 & 120Hz TVs to make sure your TV can keep up with the refresh rate of newer consoles.
“Having a larger TV will keep it relevant for longer mitigating the need to upgrade it for a larger one,” said Henrik, “8K resolution is also growing in popularity and we expect to see more 8K content as the time goes.”
How much to spend on a TV
Spending money on a TV can be daunting but Henrik recommends sticking to your budget and what you are looking for.
He said: “Whilst most suppliers offer the best technology panels available, they have different USPs.
“If having a truly immersive experience an important factor, perhaps exploring Philips’ OLED+ Ambilight TVs is the right thing to do.
“When it comes to OLED technology, LG has made some great advancements.”
Make sure you know what you’re looking for and how much you’re willing to spend and you can’t go far wrong.
Where are the best TV deals?
The good news is that there’s actually a pretty small number of online retailers that stock the best TV deals.
Competition is fierce among these stores, and when it comes to TV deals, you’ll often see them ruthlessly price-match each other.
This is especially the case during hectic sales periods like Black Friday and Boxing Day, as well as the January sales.

How to get the best TV deal
We’ve got a few pointers for you to help you in your search for the best TV deal out there:
- Work out your budget in advance. TVs vary wildly in price – you can spend anywhere between £150 and, well, this much. If you figure out how much you’re willing to spend (with some wiggle room), you’ll find searching far easier.
- Know the right size TV for your viewing space. The distance between you and your TV should be around 1.5 times the size of the screen. You might want to read our guide on how to measure a TV.
- Be aware that retailers often fiercely price-match each other. During sales periods, you’ll often find the same price drop listed across several of the major stores (often with Amazon undercutting its rivals by £1).
- Currys, a major TV retailer, offers a price-match guarantee. If you see a television that’s cheaper elsewhere, hold them to it!
- Bookmark this article. We keep it regularly updated with all the best price drops we find online, so if you’re not looking for a cheap TV deal right now, you can always come back.
