Hibs boss Nick Montgomery warned by WIFE after agreeing to be mic’d up during Hearts derby clash

NICK MONTGOMERY has been ordered to curb his language after agreeing to be mic’d up during tomorrow’s Edinburgh derby.

Jambos counterpart Steven Naismith refused to join Monty ‘live’ after claiming that it would be too intrusive.

Hibs boss Monty is happy to share his passion with TV viewers for the sake of adding extra spice to the game.

Not that his missus, Josie, is keen on the idea after repeatedly warning her other half to keep a lid on his, at times, colourful language.

Monty admitted: “My wife is always telling me to curb my language. There is definitely some industrial football language in the technical area.

“When you get passionate about anything, the swear words come out. I’ve tried to improve on that because I’ve got three girls — and it’s not the sort of language I want to be known for.

“It’s passionate and when you have fans who book their seats behind the dugout every season, they get it live and in person every other week.

“But maybe fans in the other parts of the stadium don’t really get to see what happens on the bench.”

Monty refused to criticise Naismith for refusing to play ball.

He stressed: “I can only speak for myself. Both CEO’s, the league and Sky Sports all agreed that this was a great opportunity to showcase the league and I’ll try to be myself.

“I’ve been involved in situations like this before and I can honestly say it doesn’t affect the game.

“It’s just an opportunity for the showpiece of an Edinburgh derby to be televised with a bit more access for the fans.

“There was documentary stuff in the A-League that I was involved in being mic’d up and sometimes you forget you’ve got the mic on as it’s obviously a passionate game.”
