Aussie comedian Dave Hughes rushed to hospital after major surfing accident at Gold Coast beach

Dave Hughes’ New Year’s Eve took a turn for the worse when the Australian comedian was rushed to hospital after a major surfing incident.

The popular television and radio presenter took to Instagram to share his horrific injuries that occurred during what was meant to be a joyous NYE at a Queensland beach.

The slideshow post included up-close-and-personal photos of the star, showing his severe injuries and his journey to a hospital on the Gold Coast.

Hughes started off the caption in his typical light-hearted manner: “Happy NY. Had my least sober NYE in 30+ years.”

As the slideshow progressed, it was clear he wasn’t talking about alcohol: “Green whistle came after two hours of the worst pain of my life, plus morphine and the rest of them.”

On a more serious note, Hughes wrote: “Shoulder dislocation whilst surfing. ‘9 out of 10 level nerve damage.’”
