The be-alls and end-alls of the sporting world in Western Australia have flocked to the hottest ticket in town: the Perth Scorchers’ clash with the Adelaide Strikers.
As Laurie Evans produced one of the great T20 knocks at Optus Stadium, smashing an unbeaten 85 off 28, there was no shortage of superstars in the building ready to spread the tale.
Star golfer Min Woo Lee was at his second game in a row and would have appreciated Evans’s crack stroke.
Lee had the crowd in stiches when he came up on the imposter cam, mimicking the photo of him on the screen and flexing.
West Coast had a strong contingent around the ground.
Oscar Allen had a box and even graced the screens with an interview before sharing his night on Instagram.
Will Schofield, Lewis Jetta and Jeremy McGovern kept a lower profile as they enjoyed the Scorchers savaging Adelaide’s hapless bowling attack for 4-211 from their set of 20 overs.
The Wildcats were also at Optus Stadium, with Jesse Wagstaff, Kyle Zunic and Michael Harris representing the red men from the jungle.
Even new Melbourne AFL coach Adem Yze was in attendance.
Members of the Western Force were also among the crowd.
Rumours of more A-listers travelled around Optus Stadium including suggestions that Sam Kerr may have been at the ground.
The game attracted another massive crowd as the orange army got the ground rocking, showing their appreciation of Evans’s fastest-ever Scorchers half century.
