A PUB’S cheeky re-brand for Dry January means Brits can tell their partners they’re exercising without lying.
The Malsters Arms in Swansea, Wales, changed their signage to “The Gym” last week and photos show gym bunnies enjoying a cheeky tipple from dumbbell shaped glasses.
Anyone who “over-committed” in their resolutions can take a guilt-free night off – as the only “weight” thirsty pub-goers will have to tackle is for the person in front of them to get served.
Lycra-clad punters are being invited to take a break from breaking a sweat and instead enjoy a cheeky pint guilt-free on January 19th.
The quirky night is the brainchild of Au Vodka, the UK’s leading premium vodka brand, who said the name change will allow people to answer honestly that they are “at The Gym”, if asked.
Ben Marett, Head of Marketing Communications at Au Vodka, said: “Following the antics of New Year a lot of people have promised themselves, and their partners, that 2024 is the year they’ll go to the gym more regularly.
“Lots of people we heard from felt like they had already over-committed and promised their partners, friends or family they’d be in the gym ‘every day’ – when really they’d be more comfortable doing it three times a week or whatever.
“That’s why we’ve launched ‘The Gym’, a gym-themed takeover at The Malster’s Arms pub, Swansea.
“It’s a playful way to help raise punters’ spirits and ‘bring people together from all walks of life’.
“And if your partner or mates ask where you’re heading to after work, you can honestly answer them, all while enjoying a cheeky drink.”
The first 1,000 gym gear-clad punters who squeeze themselves into workout clothes before heading through The Gym’s doors will be treated to a free Au on Tap drink.
