WFAN program director Spike Eskin is leaving the station to return to his native Philadelphia and become an afternoon drive time co-host on all-sports WIP.
Eskin oversaw a transitional period for FAN after taking over for station icon Mark Chernoff.
While Chernoff was at the FAN for three decades, Eskin was there for two-and-a-half years but it was an eventful run.
In partnership with Audacy New York president, Chris Oliviero, Eskin reinvented FAN on several occasions in his short period in charge.
The current setup with Evan Roberts, Tiki Barber, joined by sidekick Shaun Morash in the afternoons, and the mid-day team of Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata occurred under Eskin’s short watch.
Eskin co-hosts a popular podcast on the 76ers called, “The Rights to Rickey Sanchez,” and his Philadelphia roots run deep as his father is longtime radio host, Howard Eskin.
The shift Eskin will man is the one that his father held down for a couple of decades.
Eskin will stay at WFAN until his current successor is found. He joins WIP after Reese’s co-host, John Marks, left the station.
Eskin, who was WIP’s program director, originally hired Marks for the job and was part of an effort to try to convince him to stay.
The Philadelphia show also features Jack Fritz, who has a Morash-like producer role.
