Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat happy set for pay cut deal?

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat has resurfaced in the SuperSport United, sparking new rumours about his future.

Billiat left Chiefs under controversial circumstances at the start of the season, and could sign for SuperSport.

Chiefs’ communications officer Vina Maphosa claimed Billiat told the club he was sick, then disappeared. This happened while there was still a deal on the table for the player, just before their pre-season Polokwane trip. The club wrote a statement detailing the player had not given an indication of whether or not he will sign.

Maphosa then clarified on a radio that, the player was not AWOL, as his Chiefs contract had expired. He added the club were worried about Billiat’s whereabouts as they viewed him as an important player. His number 11 jersey was then handed to new signing Tebogo Potsane as it became evident he wouldn’t return. Now having spent the first half of the campaign without a team that could now change. This comes after pictures of him training with SuperSport emerged on the internet on Thursday.

As it stands, it is believed Billiat is training with SuperSport in a bid to revive his playing career. According Soccer-Laduma he will have to be willing to make a financial sacrifice. 

Billiat to take SuperSport paycut?

“Khama Billiat may have to accept a salary package of less than what he was previously earning for his return to competitive football after more than six months. Billiat has resurfaced at SuperSport United and is expected to conclude a deal to reunite with coach Gavin Hunt as reported by the Siya crew.” Wrote the publication.

Billiat had an injury ravaged season for Chiefs in the previous campaign. He had initially been out from the 22nd of October to May. He than got injured on his return and became a substitute that got substituted. It remains to be seen if he will, indeed return in the second half of the season in SuperSport colours.
