Teenagers tour a simulated surgery and get a peek at robotics at Cedar-Sinai – Daily News

Twenty-two local junior high and high school students took part in a simulated surgery, and other simulated medical procedures, at the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Guild Simulation Center for Advanced Clinical Skills, and were joined by Clippers forward Moussa Diabate and Clippers forward-center Daniel Theis.

The lucky students, part of the Los Angeles Clippers Foundation’s Mentorship Assist Zone program, were invited into a fully equipped operating room to participate in a simulated surgery with life-like mannequins. And they got to work with the latest robotic surgical tools being used for airway procedures, endoscopies and other treatments.

In a written statement, Cedar-Sinai explained, “Cedars-Sinai partners with local organizations through its Community Benefit program to support youth mentorship in underserved communities. The goal of these mentorship experiences is for students to learn more about the diverse career fields connected to healthcare and be inspired by our mentors. Cedars-Sinai is the official health partner of the Clippers.”
