Ligue Un side eye Everton star

Lyon are still in discussions with Everton and Villarreal for the signature of Arnaut Danjuma ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

Danjuma joined Everton on loan from Villarreal last summer but he has not been a regular starter at Goodison Park.

Lyon have been interested in signing him and the French giants have an agreement in place with the player.

However, an agreement with Everton is still missing and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Lyon are still in talks with the Toffees and Villarreal.

Arsenal target ‘next Sergio Busquets’

Arsenal are reportedly very close to agreeing a deal to sign a player dubbed the next Sergio Busquets.

According to Spanish news outlet AS, Real Sociedad star midfielder Martin Zubimendi is very close to accepting an offer to play for the North London club next season.

It was reported that Arsenal were interested in signing the Spaniard during this month’s transfer window but Zubimendi was reluctant to leave Sociedad due to their Champions League chase.

Forest face Reyna transfer battle

Marseille are rivalling Nottingham Forest for Borussia Dortmund winger Gio Reyna.

The Premier League side have been keen to include an option to buy the 21-year-old in the deal.

Marseille also retain and an interest in signing Nuno Tavares, who is on loan at Forest from Arsenal.

It takes Zu to tango

Manchester United are tipped to rival Arsenal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes the Spaniard’s £52million release clause is a major obstacle to a move this month rather than the summer.

Barcelona have also reportedly been monitoring the 24-year-old.

But United could regard Zubimendi as a potential long-term successor to anchorman Casemiro.

And Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta is keen to find a composed, high-class partner for Declan Rice.

Walker-Peters eyed by Arsenal

Arsenal are tipped to come on for Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters before next week’s deadline.

The Gunners have been plagued by defensive injuries this season.

And TEAMtalk suggest Arsenal rate the twice-capped Englishman, 26, as a useful transfer option.

How England’s golden generation should have lined up…

Gary Neville believes England’s Golden Generation should have adopted a different formation… and dropped HIM.

The Three Lions promised a great deal during the early 2000s with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, David Beckham and Paul Scholes.

Yet despite an impressive pool of talent, they were knocked out at the quarter-final stage in three successive major tournaments from 2002 to 2006.

Dubbed the “Golden Generation” in spite of their disappointing performances, they rigidly stuck to a 4-4-2 formation.

But ex-Manchester United right-back Neville believes they should have switched to a 3-5-2 instead.

And in an XI he named on the latest episode of The Overlap, Neville even replaced himself with Beckham at right wing-back.
