Police investigating after young child ‘suspiciously’ approached by group, near Point Walter Jetty

Police are urging witnesses to come forward in relation to an incident in Perth’s south in which a child was “suspiciously” approached.

The frightening incident happened about 5.25pm on Friday near the Point Walter Jetty on Honour Ave in Bicton.

A group of three people made a “suspicious approach” towards a young child.

Luckily, two teenage girls saw the incident and alerted the father of the child — who then intervened.

Two men and a woman are involved and are believed to be of possible Asian descent.

One man is described as being aged in his 30s, wearing dark-coloured shorts, while the other man was believed to be wearing white Crocs and had a missing tooth.

The woman also looked to be aged in her 30s, wearing heavy makeup and a long khaki-coloured skirt.

They were later seen at a nearby ice cream van.

Police are urging anyone with any information relating to this incident, particularly two teenage girls who spoke to the child’s father, or who has mobile phone or dash-cam vision taken of the area around the time of the incident, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestopperswa.com.au
