Fringe Perth review: Rueben Kaye’s APOCALIPSTIK show is stunning audiences

Want a night out filled with laughter, showtunes and politics?

Rueben Kaye: APOCALIPSTIK has entered the chat.

Now, Sarria has seen Reuben before, and told Amanda nothing. Amanda has trouble laughing with stand-up comics. Not tonight, though.

This show is stunning.

The Melbourne born’s costumes were part fantastic disco, part ethereal, part bad-ass. We were both in awe as Reuben stepped up to a descending disco ball, casting light fragments across the room whilst draped in gauzy fabric. It wouldn’t have looked amiss in a fashion magazine.

Fashion was just one of the topics Reuben had a lot to say about. We mentioned he’s political in his set, and the ability of addressing hard issues, keeping it funny but also dark enough to hit home is one hell of a skill.
