Fringe Perth review: Circus After Dark Nocturnal blew us out of the water

We want to point out, first and foremost, this show is entirely WA made. Locals for the win!

If Barbaroi impressed us, Circus After Dark: Nocturnal blew us out of the water with a cannonball to the face.

Let’s talk host. Charismatic, engaging and full of life – Karl kept us wildly entertained in the interim between acts.

This had both of us thinking he wouldn’t be performing – we were wrong. The host had some serious boy-lesque talent.

We were enamoured by each act. Having learnt from our previous circus show to keep an eye on the roof for shadows whenever a performer was up high. E

ach movement was an art piece in silhouette. The shadows, as they were all connected to some kind of rope from above, had the cast looking like Christmas tree decorations.

Sarria cannot believe the speed Joey achieved, inverted on her velvet ropes. The holds she was capable of, stunning.

Karl’s set was so unexpected too, loved that. And Bec on her moon – what an ethereal way to start the show!

Amanda loved Joey too, but also couldn’t believe what Fay did on her hanging pole. The strength in that alone had her jaw on the floor.

This show has a Kleenheat Sizzle Factor of very hot. Luckily, if you have some kidlets you think would love to see some circus acts of this caliber, the cast are also performing a mild show called 2 Outrageous that is family friendly!

Go see it, or any other shows put on by Kinetica. This show is running every Friday/Saturday until the end of Fringe World. Don’t miss it!

(We’d give more if we were allowed – we LOVED it)
