Bunnings Warehouse Cannington is changing its name to Hammerbarn in homage to Bluey

Parents, prepare to be pestered!

A Perth Bunnings Warehouse store will join six around the country in getting a Bluey-style makeover.

The Cannington store will change its name to Hammerbarn this February as part of a collaboration with the hit children’s television series Bluey.

The hardware giant is changing the exterior signage of some Australian stores and one in New Zealand to pay homage to an iconic Bluey episode where the cartoon blue heelers go to ‘Hammerbarn’.

The Cannington store is due to undergo the transformation this weekend.

Fans will be able to take part in Bluey-themed workshops, meet-and-greets and scavenger hunts every weekend in February.

The store will also stock Bluey-themed products, including garden gnomes made up like those beloved by Bingo and Bluey in the ‘Hammerbarn’ episode.

Bunnings Chief Customer Officer, Ryan Baker said he was excited by the one-off transformation.

“Our team across Australia have had kids and parents referring to Bunnings as Hammerbarn ever since the episode aired, so making this a reality in our stores for customers is really special,” he said.

Hammerbarn’s resemblance to Bunnings is no coincidence, with the episode reportedly taking inspiration from a real Bunnings store in Keperra in Queensland.

In the episode, the dogs visit their local hardware store to buy a pizza oven, with Bingo and Bluey hand-picking a trolley full of their own items to use to build mini homes — complete with garden gnome “husbands”.

“Hammerbarn’ is one of our favourite episodes as it’s such a relatable Australian and New Zealand experience that families do together,” Ludo Studios, who created the series, said.

“The design of Hammerbarn draws inspiration from the Bunnings Keperra store in Brisbane, the home of Bluey, which adds an extra layer of significance.

“We are thrilled to offer fans the opportunity to experience Hammerbarn for real life; it’s everything we’ve ever wanted!”

Bunnings will also be hosting a fund-raising BBQ for Make-A-Wish at over 30 stores, including those taking part in the transformation, on opening weekend to raise funds for the children’s charity.

For those who can’t make it to a rebranded Hammerbarn store, there will still be plenty of Bluey-themed activities, including colouring walls and scavenger hunts at Bunnings outlets.
