A WOMAN is in a critical condition in hospital after plunging from a third floor window at a block of flats in Ayrshire.

Emergency crews, including an air ambulance, raced to Warrix Avenue in Irvine yesterday afternoon.

The alarm was raised at around 12.55pm after police received a report of a woman having fallen from a window of the property.

The 45-year-old woman was found seriously injured at the scene.

She was then airlifted to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

There was a heavy police presence at the property as the area was locked down by officers.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances.

Cops have urged members of the public who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Daily Record: “Around 12.55pm on Thursday, 1 February, 2024, police were called to a report of a woman having fallen from the window of a property in Warrix Avenue, Irvine.

“Emergency services attended and a 45-year-old woman was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances and anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1500 of Thursday, February 1, 2024.”
