WBBSE Class 10 Exam 2024: WBBSE Class 10 Exam 2024: Madhyamik History question paper leaked on social media, check details here

WBBSE Madhyamik 2024: On the third day of West Bengal’s class 10 board exams, images of the purported history question papers were shared on social media. In the incident, three students have been disqualified for discreetly photographing the papers with mobile phones brought into the exam centre.
The candidates circulated these images on WhatsApp shortly after the exam began on Monday, which resulted in their disqualification from the entire examination. The three candidates, from two schools in Malda district, attempted to blur the unique QR code discreetly embedded on each question paper but were still caught, the official mentioned.
During the day, approximately 9,23,045 candidates took their exams at 2,675 centres across the state. During the first two days of the class 10 board exams, which began on February 2, 14 candidates received penalties. According to a West Bengal Board of Secondary Education official, twelve people were fined for sharing English papers on February 3, and two people were fined for circulating Bengali papers on social media on February 2. With this, 17 candidates have been disqualified from this year’s class 10 board exams, with 16 from Malda and one from Jalpaiguri.
The president of the board, Ramanuj Ganguly, had previously voiced his worries about the trend, saying that “some individuals were exploiting children to tarnish the state government’s image and disrupt the examination process” as per a PTI report.
In another report of a similar incident that took place late last week, question papers of the Bengali subject were allegedly shared in social media. According to reports, the examinations began at 9:45AM, and shortly after, alleged images of the Bengali first-year question paper began circulating on various social media platforms. Two students had been barred in the incident.
President of the WBBSE mentioned that board officials activated the newly implemented code-tracking surveillance system for the first time this year, successfully identifying the students involved. Media reports quote the WBBSE president stating that within 20 minutes, two candidates from English Bazar and Lakhimpur in Malda were identified for capturing images using the unique codes printed on each candidate’s paper.
Additionally, at examination centres in the districts of Jhargram, Purulia, and Malda, invigilators seized electronic devices from three candidates, including two Android devices and smartwatches.
According to a PTI report, at a press conference, BJP leader Shankudeb Panda accused the government of making the entire secondary examination system a mockery. The BJP leader demanded that central agencies investigate the state’s examination process. He argued that instead of penalising the candidates, the Board should punish officials responsible for conducting exams at the centers where the incidents occurred.
