Lorch made a sensational transfer deadline day move to Sundowns, and that left the majority of Pirates fans disappointed.

And that’s because Lorch had started to rediscover his old form following the suspension that imposed to him by Pirates.

However, local reports suggest that Lorch’s contract was expiring in June and he had rejected Pirates’ new offer.

For that reason, Pirates made him available in order to cash-in on him so that they don’t lose him for free at the end of the season.

Now, speaking to the Sundowns media team, Mokwena said Lorch was available in the market, adding that he couldn’t let that chance slip.

LORCH’S SHOCK MOVE TO SUNDOWNS EXPLAINED

“When you have a player like Thembinkosi Lorch who is available on the market and can give you immediate outlet to help the team, to work towards its objectives, of course, you have to try to see how possible that is,” said Mokwena.

“And we want to thank his former club for dealing with the transfer with integrity and respect and, of course, that’s how we try to treat every club… with respect and integrity in what was not an easy transfer to make.”

RESPECT AND COOPERATION BETWEEN DOWNS & BUCS KEY

Furthermore, Mokwena believes the respect and cooperation between the Sundowns hierarchy, the Motsepe family with Pirates were key in luring Lorch.

“I think the respect and cooperation that exist between both clubs, Mamelodi Sundowns, our hierarchy and Motsepe family with Orlando Pirates allowed it to happen.

“And of course, we are delighted to have recruited a player of his stature and magnitude,” added Mokwena.
