Staud Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear Runway, Fashion Show & Collection Review

“Unlike any of our other collections where I always have a journey or place, this is really a collection that was designed and inspired by a feeling. It was about creating a collection and really more of a wardrobe that gives our woman the ability to be genuinely effortless, and the joy that one feels from that. It’s a line that encourages you not to overthink, pre-plan or try too hard to put a look together, rather encouraging to do the opposite,” Sarah Staudinger said of her fall collection.

The departure made for an effortless, chic and matured Staud collection that touched on minimalist-bent, late ‘80s and early ‘90s city-minded fashions — quiet luxury, with a Staud twist. The tone started with a shoulder-padded, oversize ponte blazer with new high-waisted pants, flat versions of the brand’s signature Wally boot and “third layer” scarf (a big emphasis throughout the collection). Other neutral monochrome looks that felt especially right for fall came in the form of a triple-layered brown leather ‘90s-esque ensemble, or body-con mohair knit dress.

The sophisticated, modern takes on the eras inspirations continued with classic pencil skirts; poplin shirt dresses; two-in-one layered knits (like a chunky gray crewneck with wide collar built-in), and tailored crepe and herringbone styles (a ladylike seamed dress or great “stretchy messy” square-neck tank with elongated suit skirt, topped with new silver logo embossed “skater” belts), and more.

Like grounded, mostly flat footwear and an expanded assortment of practical handbags (minimal lady totes, an oxblood suede circular mini duffel, new Moon bags, etc), outerwear was a big emphasis for the season and spanned from a new suede chore jacket and chic brushed alpaca “chic bathrobe” coats to wrappable capes and shawls from day to night.

Even eveningwear was approached with ease in mind, as seen via an inky-colored iridescent, sheer Japanese organza mock-neck gown, a knit little black dress and silk slip with beaded X-ray florals, or a fiery red silk satin strapless gown worn over a matching button down.

No fuss, chic wardrobing? Check. That won’t break the bank? Double check.
