Whether sheâs reaching for the mermaid-blue dye or trying XXL lengths, no one could accuse Helen Mirren,78, of resting on her laurels in the hairstyle department. Instead, she has fun.Â
âI donât think there should be any rules and luckily there are less and less,â she previously told Vogue of her approach to her image. âI grew up in a world where there were all kinds of rules as far as women were concerned, and then saw people like Madonna come along and break them all… All rules are made to be broken.â
And break the rules she does. At an awards ceremony in Beverly Hills on Thursday, Mirren unveiled a new, asymmetric haircut. Not only was the right hand side of her white hair noticeably longer than the left, the front was also longer than the back. A good example of an âin-betweenâ hairstyle, the acclaimed actor wore the mid-length cut with a deep side parting and flicked ends (on just one side).
Mirren certainly does not subscribe to the old (and silly) idea that women should cut their hair short once they reach a certain ageâshe has said as much. What she does do is take good care of her hair. If you have white or grey locks like Mirren, a home toning treatmentâsuch as Oribeâs new Bright Blonde Radiance & Repair Treatment, or LâOréalâs Colour Protect Anti-Brassiness Purple Shampooâcan help to offset yellow tones, while for bouncy texture, keratin treatments are excellent.
At any age, the best beauty secret is confidence. So make like Mirren and try something newâyou wonât regret it.
