Annual price adjustments for DStv packages have been announced by Multichoice, and will take affect from 1 April 2024.
Prices are going to increase by between 3.1% and 7.8% across DStv’s satellite pay-TV packages. DStv’s streaming-only portfolio however will remain unchanged.
Among the price adjustments, DStv Access will experience the most significant price hike. However, this entry-level package will also undergo a substantial upgrade in its sports offerings.
“We have renewed La Liga, and we are in the process of finalising a long-term extension with them,” MultiChoice South Africa CEO Marc Jury told Mybroadband.
DStv Access’ sports lineup will now include ESPN (introduced in December 2023), La Liga, SuperSport Variety 4, and SuperSport Blitz.
DStv’s Compact Plus package, that offers over eight sports channels, will also see a substantial increase of 6.9%.
With this price adjustment, Jury said Compact Plus subscribers can soon enjoy a refreshed selection of channels. This will include the best of Showmax’s original content.

Jury has also emphasised MultiChoice’s focus on their price-guaranteed contract packages.
Customers who have committed to a 24-month contract can benefit from MultiChoice’s price guarantee. This ensures there will be no price increase throughout the duration of the contract.
Also, subscribers are able to upgrade their contracts at any point during the two-year period. Downgrading on the other hand is only possible through cancellation and this incurs a fee.
This is how MultiChoice’s price guarantees will look:
DStv Premium — R879/ month for 24 months
DStv Compact — R399/ month for 24 months
DStv Access — R109/ month for 24 months
In August 2023, DStv revised its streaming policy and allowed subscribers to add an extra mobile stream to their accounts.
These additional streams are exclusively for mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, or laptops and cannot be accessed through smart TV apps or smart connected boxes.
With this update, customers who opt for an extra mobile stream can now simultaneously stream content on two devices in addition to their primary TV decoder.
For DStv Stream customers, the bundled limits include two streams, aligning with the offerings of decoder-based packages.
In a recent communication to subscribers, DStv announced that customers now have the option to add two extra mobile streams.
