A crowd on bikes celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Chandler Bikepath – Daily News

A crowd on bikes celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Chandler Bikepath hosted by the City of Burbank and Walk Bike Burbank. Bicyclists learned the history of the bike path and connected with neighbors at the free drop-in event on Wednesday, August 14.

Burbank Mayor Nick Schultz said in a prepared statement, “This bike path has been a vital part of our community for two decades and exemplifies the importance of sustainable and active transportation in Burbank. I am excited to see our community come together to honor the history and future of the Chandler Bikepath.”

The public was invited to celebrate, learn about local transportation options, and find ways to “reduce car dependency and increase mobility,” according to a statement from the city.

In 2004, Burbank and LA Metro turned the former Chandler rail line into the Chandler Bikeway, a 2.2-mile path that runs from Mariposa Street to the city’s border at Clybourn Avenue. The bike path connects the east and west ends of the San Fernando Valley, with access to the Sepulveda Basin and the North Hollywood Arts District.
