Alcoa’s paid traineeships to brighten minds of young graduates

University students wanting a career in the resources sector are being asked to apply for summer vacation roles being offered by an alumina producer.

Alcoa has 15 paid positions on offer, which begin in November and last three months.

Roles are available across a range of disciplines including mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering alongside occupational hygiene.

Program participants will be able to expand their understanding of aluminium production while working for the company’s WA operations.

Former program recruit Megan Donovan is now employed as a graduate chemical engineer and said she had no idea how much she would learn, or the exposure she would get to the complex world of refining.

“When I look at the people and expertise I have been exposed to across the refining system and the skills I have developed, I am really grateful for the opportunity to have participated,” she said.
