AmaZulu send message to the PSL after Pirates match

AmaZulu FC believe Abbubaker Mobara‘s red card against Orlando Pirates was not the correct call.

ABBUBAKER MOBARA SEES RED AGAINST ORLANDO PIRATES

The 30-year-old Mobara made what was a brilliant tackle to deny Patrick Maswanganyi a sight on goal. The Mitchells Plain-born was dismayed when the referee blew for a free kick for the Sea Robbers. The drama was heightened when the former Orlando Pirates star was shown a straight red card. Usuthu went on to lose the game 1-0 after a late winner from Tshegofatso Mabasa.

According to AmaZulu’s coach Pablo Franco Martin, the PSL should publicly admit the mistake and withdraw the red card.

“I think if we want to make football a little fair, of course, when there’s the evident situation, they [PSL] should recognise the error publicly,” Martin said via FARPost.

“The funniest thing about this whole thing [referees decisions] is that the ones who are punished are the ones not doing anything. And the ones who are making mistakes are going to be there next week making the same things.

“So I think if we want to be fair, we should have him [Mobara] available for the next game,” the Spaniard concluded.

TSHEGOFATSO MABASA CATCHES UP WITH LUCAS RIBEIRO

Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa is doing his job well. The 27-year-old is back on the DStv Premiership top scorer’s chart. The Bloemfontein-born striker scored the winner to mark 11 goals for the season.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Brazilian forward Lucas Costa Ribeiro took the lead last week after his goal against Moroka Swallows. With Sundowns engaged in the CAF Champions league this weekend, Mabasa took his chance. The Orlando Pirates striker hit the winner to take his team to second place, while also marking 11 goals to equal Ribeiro at the summit.

ORLANDO PIRATES NUMBER 10 JERSEY

Moving to another topic, Orlando Pirates icon Jomo Sono gave the club the go-ahead to release the retired number 10 shirt. We’ve found the deserving players.

In case you did not spot it, popular X account Football SA quoted Jomo Sono giving his blessing to Orlando Pirates to release the number 10 jersey. “Jomo Sono on the Orlando Pirates jersey no.10,” Sono said. “I really don’t have a problem with anyone wearing it at Pirates. To be honest with you, they (Pirates) can give it to anybody they want. The jersey doesn’t play football, it is the player who plays. Back then, it was not the No 10 jersey on Jomo that played, but it was Jomo playing for Pirates wearing jersey No 10,” the great icon added. – READ THE FULL STORY HERE.
