Andres Alvarez has been named head of home entertainment at Paramount Pictures, while Paramount said that Bob Buchi, president of worldwide home entertainment, is stepping down from his role and exiting the company.
Craig White, executive VP of worldwide sales and distribution for home entertainment will also exit the company, Paramount announced.
Alvarez joins the studio having previously worked at Amazon MGM Studios, where he served as head of digital distribution, responsible for global transaction commerce as well as AVOD and FAST distribution.
Before the merger, Alvarez worked as SVP of digital distribution at MGM. Prior to MGM, Alvarez was head of domestic content licensing and account management for global digital platforms at 20th Century Fox.
Alvarez also managed the Americas content partnerships team for Google Play, YouTube TV and YouTube Movies. He also had stints working for Dolby Laboratories, Best Buy CinemaNow and Napster in a range of business development roles .
Before joining the media industry, Alvarez practiced law at Latham & Watkins LLP in New York and Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP in Los Angeles.

Alvarez will start in his role July 15. Buchi will stay with Paramount during the transition period.
