ANGE POSTECOGLOU nearly became the manager of Huddersfield.
The Australian boss is already a hero at Tottenham following their strong start to the Premier League season.
However, things could have been very different if he had joined the Terriers.
Postecoglou was manager of Japanese side Yokohama Marinos and was interviewed for the role in west Yorkshire.
And despite the Aussie impressing, Huddersfield eventually plumped for Danny Cowley as they could not get the Postecoglou deal over the line.
Former Terriers director of football David Webb recalled: “We had a couple of long-distance phone calls. I spoke to him and really liked him as a person.
“He was someone who I felt would have fit Huddersfield really well because of his values and I liked the way he played.
“I like authenticity and he was just himself. This is me, this is how I am, this is how I play, this is what I do.
“He’d done his homework on the Huddersfield squad.
“But where he was situated, we couldn’t move quick enough to get him over the line where we needed it to be.”

Postecoglou moved to Celtic from Japan, winning five trophies before moving to Spurs in the summer.
Cowley is currently without a club after being sacked by Portsmouth earlier this year.
Webb is now assistant manager of Georgia, who face Scotland on Thursday in Euro 2024 qualifying.
