Army undertakes noble initiative, starts coaching classes for nomad children

JAMMU: Continuing its goodwill mission and its commitment to education and community welfare, the Indian Army has embarked on a laudable effort to provide coaching classes (Tuition) for children of Gujjar and Bakarwal residing in the higher reaches and remote regions of Poonch, Reasi, and Rajouri districts.

“This visionary project, spanning from August 2023 to November 2023, aims to empower these young minds with quality education and open pathways to a brighter future,” said Defence Spokesperson Jammu Lt Col Suneel Bartwal on Thursday.
Col Bartwal said, “Taking the lead in this remarkable endeavour, the Indian Army Unit stationed at Samote has initiated coaching classes tailored to the unique needs of children from these nomadic tribes.”

“Around 500 children are benefiting from this initiative, which is carefully timed to coincide with the migratory season, ensuring that education reaches even the most inaccessible corners of above-mentioned districts.”
Sharing more details, Col Bartwal said, “The coaching classes are being conducted in key locations including Banj, Makhidhar, Dhakikot, Kalaban, Chakal Hawalan, Balmatkot, Shikari Bowl, and Kesri Hill.”
By addressing the educational challenges faced by Gujjar and Bakarwal communities, Col Barywal said, “the Indian Army is not only bridging the gap in learning but also fostering a renewed interest in studies among these young learners.”
Army spokesperson further stated that this initiative is a testament to the Indian Army’s commitment to creating opportunities for marginalized communities and equipping them with the tools to thrive in today’s competitive world.
