ARSENAL are plotting a move for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his attack amid Arsenal’s stuttering form.
The Gunners have won just one game in seven and have only scored five goals in that period.
Arsenal are open to doing business this month but reportedly need to be careful with their finances after spending £200million last summer.
A move for Zirkzee is considered complicated with The Telegraph reporting Bologna value the striker at £50m.
Bologna have made it clear that they have no intention of selling Zirkzee this winter, with sporting director Marco Di Vaio saying last month that the Dutchman is a “unique” player.
Zirkzee has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances this season.
But if Arsenal are unable to strike a deal with Bologna they will have to pursue alternative targets.
Another forward of interest is Getafe star Borja Mayoral, who has impressed in LaLiga this season.
Mayoral was also tipped as a target for Brentford last month, as a potential replacement for Ivan Toney, with Fulham also linked.

But SunSport understands that it is the Gunners who have tabled a bid worth £22million for Mayoral.
Getafe have knocked back their initial offer as they hold out for closer to £39m for their star striker.
