Australian champion swimmer Ariarne Titmus has made a stunning revelation about the long flight home from the Olympic Games in Paris.
After finally getting back to Brisbane on Thursday, Titmus confirmed there was indeed a pecking order on the plane and the medallists were handed the swanky seats up the front while the non-medallists sat in economy.
But, if you are suddenly imagining the gold medallists all sitting there in business class — with their shiny medals clinking around their neck while they are sipping on their fancy Champagne — you are sadly mistaken.

In fact, it appears there has been un-Australian acts going on in the sky that left our champion athletes … ummm … high and and dry.
Appearing on Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren show, Titmus was asked about the scenes and all the carry-on at the pointy end of the plane.
“It would have been like a party plane,” Lauren Phillips suggested.
But Titmus — who won two gold and two silver medals in Paris — revealed it was anything but with alcohol seemingly banned.
“No, it wasn’t because it was, well, it was dry,” Titmus said.
A shocked Phillips said, “What?”
Titmus admitted the alcohol ban was not such a big deal given “everyone was so tired” and “most people slept for 12 hours”.
“Some people didn’t even have dinner and were flat when we took off and slept the whole way,” she said.
But Phillips pressed harder about the celebration killer.
“You couldn’t get a champagne on that flight after winning two gold medals?” she asked.
The answer was obviously no .. but that’s not all.
“So when we got on the plane, there was orange and apple juice …,” Titmus explained.
Phillips: “Ooohhh, you got half the service,” while Jase Hawkins said, “ohhh … sorry.”
Titmus continued: “This was the best part, we got into Perth and they go, ‘We’ve blocked off the entire lounge for you. You guys can go up there and chill for your layover for four hours’.
“And (we) got up there, and it was awesome. Like, we were on arrival and got like, a bunch of choccies, like, the whole place done up. Welcome home. We’re like, ‘Oh, let’s go and get a little champagne or something.’ And we go over and the bar’s shut and they’re making hot choccies!”
Phillips: “No!!!”
Hawkins said: “You have been training your butt off for years. You should be Redfoo standing on the bar bloody celebrating.”
Since returning to Australia, Titmus also lifted the lid on the conditions inside the Olympic Village.
“Our bed sheets got changed after the first night we were there,” she told The Project.
“And then they didn’t get changed for the rest of the time we were there, so we were living in filth.
“We would have to lie about how many roommates we had so we could scab toilet rolls.
“We’d run out of toilet rolls and then they’d only give us one for four days.”
She also said there was an issue with the mattresses in the village.
“I was very lucky, Tempur gave me a mattress,” she said.
“(But) the mattresses that were there were like fishing wire all tangled up, and they were in three parts that went together.
“So they weren’t even one big mattress.”
