Set in 1935 in Gyeongseong (the name of Seoul during the 1910-1945 Japanese colonial occupation of South Korea) as well as 19th-century Shanghai, the story focuses on a painter named Yoon I-ho who becomes increasingly obsessed with the mysterious female vampire Song Jeong-hwa – the role offered to Bae.
Bae, a former member of the K-pop outfit Miss A, became a big-screen star thanks to her appearance in the hit romance Architecture 101. She has since appeared in many major K-dramas, including Vagabond, Start-Up and the critically acclaimed Anna.
2. The Waking
Choi is considering the role of Jun-ho, a character who works in the cold storage facility of one of the organisations. One day he discovers a special stone which grants him enormous power, turning him into a giant. He uses his new-found power to infiltrate one of the organisations.
The Waking is scheduled to air at some point in 2025.
3. Drunken Romance
Kim will play a former special forces member, Chae Yong-ju, who is working as a saleswoman at a liquor company. Passionate about her job, she takes matters into her own hands when she hears her branch of the business is set to close.
During her quest, she crosses paths with Yun Min-ju (Lee), the CEO of a brewery who leads a leisurely life in the countryside. Shin will play Yong-ju’s rival Bang Ah-reum, while Baek is on board as her friend Oh Chan-hwi.
The series will reunite Kim with director Park Sun-ho, following their smash-hit collaboration on Business Proposal.
Drunken Romance is scheduled to be released this coming November.
4. 24-Hour Health Club
The series takes place in a fitness centre run by Do Hyun-joong, who puts right not only the posture of his clients but also the problems in their lives.
24-Hour Health Club’s broadcast home has yet to be finalised.
