Balenciaga Opening Store in São Paulo’s Iguatemi Mall

Balenciaga has selected Iguatemi, one of Brazil’s leading shopping malls, for its latest store.

The luxury brand on Monday will open a 3,230-square-foot boutique in the shopping center located in São Paulo. The store will carry men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, accessories, eyewear and jewelry.

The store’s design is the latest to utilize the company’s experiential Raw Architecture concept whose design is reminiscent of construction sites and abandoned spaces. It was also built using existing elements, resulting in fewer raw materials, a move that is in keeping with Balenciaga’s commitment to sustainability.

Brushed concrete floors are intended to resemble sidewalk tiles, while walls and shelving units are made of untreated concrete slabs, creating the illusion of an indoor/outdoor space. Ceiling grids, industrial lighting systems and other technical fixtures are visible overhead. Aged aluminum tables and benches sport locally made vegan alternatives to leather. Anodized metal, underlit shelving and a light box are also part of the design.

The store is company owned and operated. This is its third store in Brazil. The others are located in another Iguatemi mall in Sao Paolo as well as the Village Mall in Rio de Janeiro.
