Gap-owned Banana Republic has unveiled a revitalized flagship store in New York City’s SoHo Cast Iron Historic District.
Located at 552 Broadway, architect and interior designer Noa Santos of NAINOA, along with creative advisor Jacqueline Schnabel, collaborated to transform the 17,000 square-foot, two-story store with an elevated store design and retail experience.
“It was a special experience to collaborate with Noa Santos, Jacqueline Schnabel and the in-house Banana Republic team to curate an incredible SoHo Flagship experience that celebrates the brand’s heritage with a modern point of view through immersive experiences across fashion, art, global culture and more,” said Gap Inc. creative director Zac Posen.
The first floor of Banana Republic’s SoHo flagship store offers a seamless shopping experience featuring women’s collections and accessories, including linen, cashmere, denim, occasionwear, and day-to-night soft dressing. Shoppers can also explore exclusive vintage surplus offerings from the ’80s and ’90s, priced from $55 to $1,200.
On the second floor, men’s collections and accessories are showcased, featuring leather, suede, denim, linen, cashmere, and a suiting shop with on-site tailoring services. A new addition to the SoHo store is BR Home, which offers furniture, lighting, and other home goods. The BR Home Penthouse Apartment, the first BR Home showroom in New York City, offers interior design styling services by appointment.
The second floor also houses Banana Republic Bespoke Services, which provide personal styling, tailoring and alterations, gift boxing, local delivery, and VIP room bookings for special events. Exclusive to the SoHo flagship, there is on-site embroidery for custom garment personalization.
The store boasts luxe materials like travertine, brass and Venetian plaster. Completing the space is a variety of artworks that rotate seasonally in partnership with Schnabel.
The current collection includes hand-carved wood sculptures by Chuck Manion and Jonathan Shlafer, art sculptures by Vince Skelly and Jinsik Yoo, and photography by McDermott & McGough and Jessica Craig-Martin, among other pieces.
