Beechboro mum returns from holiday to claim cool $1.6 million Saturday Lotto winnings

It has taken a month but a Perth mother has finally come forward to claim her $1.6 million Saturday Lotto winnings.

The woman, from Beechboro, knew early on that she had won the mega-prize in the drawer on April 20 but couldn’t claim the jackpot because she was on holiday.

She had played the same numbers for 25 years, so when she saw the draw on TV, she quickly got excited and asked her daughter to grab her ticket.

“I’ve been playing the same numbers for years but when I saw the numbers that were called, I didn’t believe it, I had to check,” she said.

However, it didn’t stop her haggling over the price of accommodation while on holiday.

“We pulled into a motel and they gave us the price for a room for a night,” she said.

“I said stuff that and went down the road where I knew it was cheaper.

“Old habits die hard.”

The mother plans to share her winnings with her children and grandchildren, and treat herself to a new car — with heated seats.

It comes as two West Aussie are still to come forward to claim $2.5 million each from the latest Saturday Lotto draw.

One of the tickets was sold at Bullsbrook Newsagency and the other was bought online.

The winning numbers from the draw were 20, 32, 9, 43, 13, and 26. The supplementary numbers were 14 and 36.
