BHUBANESWAR: Adyansu Beura of the city secured all India rank 4 in the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2023 results of which was announced on Monday. This examination is conducted for admission into the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and the Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences, Mumbai.
Adyansu had also appeared in the JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations before the NEST. He has already received a seat at IIT Kanpur. He may join this IIT for BTech.
Pranjal Saha from Kolkata topped the NEST 2023. As many as 44,920 students had applied for the examination, but only 2566 including 580 from Odisha of them cleared it. This test was conducted on June 24 at 139 venues across the country.
NISER has 202 seats in its flagship 5-year integrated MSc programme majoring in physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology. The Mumbai center has 57 seats.
Online expression of interest will start from July 12. First round of admission will be conducted on July 28. There could be multiple rounds of admission counselling depending on withdrawal of admission by the candidates in between, said the sources.
Classes will be started on September 18, said Deepak Dalai, chief coordinator of the NEST-2023.
