Reportedy, 1.10 lakh teachers are slated to receive their appointment letters on January 13 in a grand ceremony at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav are expected to attend the event. Nitish Kumar will personally distribute letters to 25 thousand teachers. Simultaneously, designated ministers will hand over appointment letters to the remaining 85 thousand teachers at different district headquarters.
KK Pathak, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, has given directives for the issuance of appointment letters.
Last year, the Bihar Public Service Commission conducted Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) in two phases as well. In first phase, 1,20,336 cleared the exam and were subsequently given appointment letters on November 2, 2023. The commission later held TRE phase 2 to fill 1,21,370 vacancies.
In total, the state has issued appointment letters to about 2.25 lakh newly appointed teachers in just three months, from November 2023 to January 2024.
Last month, the Bihar Education department has ordered re-verification of nearly one lakh teachers recruited last month, following complaints that those turning up for the job were imposters. Additional Chief Secretary, Education Department, K K Pathak in a letter dated December 28 to all District Magistrates (DMs) has called for re-verification drive from January 15, blaming the anomalies on the “failure” of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) to share thumb impressions of candidates who had appeared in the entrance examination with the department at the time of counselling in November.
