Bindi Irwin has paid tribute to her late dad Steve Irwin by sharing a heartwarming video to celebrate World Elephant Day.
The 25-year-old zookeeper shared unseen footage on her Instagram that shows a throwback video of her and her Aussie icon dad in the early 2000s.
She captioned the post: “Wishing you the very best #WorldElephantDay. This icon animal needs our respect and protection. Please remember to say NO to wildlife products.”
Little Bindi can be seen sitting on her dad’s shoulders as he shares his passionate commentary on an elephant strolling in front of them.
Smiling ear to ear at the end of the video, she says “I just love my elephants.”
Steve Irwin lost his life in 2006 at just 44 years old in a tragic accident that hurt the nation, after he was stung by a stingray off the coast of Queensland.
The shocking death sadly left his wife Terri alone to parent their two young children, Bindi and Robert.
The Irwin family have kept the icon’s legacy alive as they continue to work in wildlife conservation at Australia Zoo.
Earlier this year in March, Bindi opened up on her 10-year-long struggle with endometriosis, which left her tormented by fatigue and pain.
“For 10yrs I’ve struggled with insurmountable fatigue, pain & nausea. Trying to remain a positive person & hide the pain has been a very long road. These last 10yrs have included many tests, doctors visits, scans, etc,” she wrote in a touching Instagram post.
“A doctor told me it was simply something you deal with as a woman & I gave up entirely, trying to function through the pain.”
Bindi said it wasn’t until a friend stepped in, that she was set on finding answers.
“Going in for surgery was scary but I knew I couldn’t live like I was. Every part of my life was getting torn apart because of the pain.
“To cut a long story short, they found 37 lesions, some very deep & difficult to remove, & a chocolate cyst (a noncancerous, fluid-filled cysts that typically form deep within the ovaries).”
