After Moschino, Bally and Cerruti, it is now the turn of Blumarine to announce a new creative director. The Italian label, owned by businessman Marco Marchi’s Eccellenze Italiane holding company, and Nicola Brognano, the brand’s current creative director, have agreed to part ways after four years of collaboration.
“We are extremely satisfied with Nicola Brognano’s work between 2020 and now. He has been able to reinterpret the codes of Blumarine in an original, contemporary way, rekindling the industry and the end customers’ interest in the brand. I would like to warmly thank Nicola for the great professionalism he has shown during this fruitful four-year collaboration,” said Marco Marchi, CEO of EIH, in a press release issued on October 19.
“Working as creative director of Blumarine, a label I have always followed with genuine interest, has greatly enriched my professional, creative and personal experience. Putting the label under the spotlights again has been a unique, enthralling opportunity. I would like to thank Marco Marchi for giving me this chance, and my team for the extraordinary work we did together,” said Brognano.
Brognano was born in the Italian region of Calabria. He studied at Istituto Marangoni, and in 2016 he won the Who’s On Next? emerging designer competition. He is distinctive for his recognisable style and his ability to interpret contemporary trends in a personal, and tasteful fashion. In 2015, he founded his own eponymous womenswear label, a project he then put on hold after the pandemic.
