Botox left me looking like I had a stroke – when I called out injector she blocked me and left city

A WOMAN was left horrified after cosmetic injections left her “looking like she had a stroke”.

Marie Snapp booked in for Botox and lip filler treatments but says she was alarmed when she didn’t receive a safety or consent form upon arrival at the Glasgow salon.

When she realised her eyebrows weren’t evenly lifted, she was told to return to the nurse for further treatment.

But Marie was left shocked when her face became “weaker and weaker” in the days following the injections.

She later discovered the person who administered the cosmetic treatment had no medical qualifications and was blocked by the ‘nurse’ when she tried to confront her.

She told STV Scotland Tonight: “I went in and then when she was injecting me again, I thought ‘oh my god’, it just felt like she was going overboard with it.

“Then a couple of days later I saw my face was just getting weaker and weaker, especially on one side. It was a mess.

“[The nurse] just blocked me. There was no interaction. There was nothing.

“It was horrible and I looked horrible, and I was embarrassed as well because I just never thought I would get scammed.”

Marie, who is trained in beauty therapy, now runs her own salon called Panache Therapies. She doesn’t offer injectables.

It comes after reports of rising numbers of dangerous and unsafe procedures carried out by rogue practitioners.

According to the NHS, the risks of Botox injections are small if it’s done correctly by a suitably qualified nurse or doctor.

Very rarely, serious problems such as blurred or double vision can happen if the area around the eyes is treated, or breathing difficulties if the neck area is injected.

Patients may also have temporary weakness and droopiness in their face.

Marie says she has discovered a number of beauticians seeking advice online about when Botox or filler goes wrong.

She added: “They will be like what should I do? And I’m thinking, if you don’t know, just tell them to phone a doctor, tell them to go to the chemist. But they’re asking a Facebook group full of other people that don’t know.

“Whereas if their training included all of this, and if it was governed in any way, there could be a phone number that you phone.

“When I lived in America, you had to be licensed in each state and there was a state exam you had to take. Everything was very well controlled. I feel like if there was something like that here for any procedure it would help.

“I’ve been for plenty of treatments where they’ve not said to me you know there’s risk of scarring, there’s risk of burning. They’re just going in completely clueless of what could happen, and I think that’s dangerous.”

One woman recently revealed she was left with wonky lips for months after years of botched procedures.
