Brett ‘Kaos’ Pechey: Bikie who was once Queensland’s most wanted man has joined Rock Machine gang

Brett “Kaos” Pechey – a Bandidos and Brothers For Life bikie who was Queensland’s most wanted man before being jailed in Perth for threatening to kill police – has reinvented himself as a sergeant-at-arms for the Rock Machine gang.

The heavily tattooed career criminal is flaunting his latest underworld affiliation on social media, posting photos of himself pointing a pistol at a camera.

The Rock Machine shot to international infamy in the 1990s when the club went to war in Canada with the Hells Angels.

The seven-year bloodbath saw dozens killed in shootings and bombings. The Rock Machine established itself in Perth 15 years ago, recruiting men who bore grudges against established bikie clubs.

The club hit local headlines in 2009 and when, under the direction of fearsome underworld enforcer Brent Reker, the fledgling Perth chapter went to war with the Rebels.

The tit-for-tat bombings of tattoo parlours and gyms culminated in then-Rebels chief Nick Martin being shot in the arm outside his Balcatta home.

The Rock Machine is the third gang Pechey has joined. He cut his teeth as a one percenter with the Bandidos in Queensland.

That gang became notorious in 2013 for its central role in a huge fight on the Gold Coast which entered Australian underworld folklore as the Broadbeach brawl.

Pechey, then-sergeant-at-arms of Brisbane’s West End Bandidos chapter, was dubbed Queensland’s most wanted man after he fled to Thailand to escape prosecution.

When he returned to the sunshine State 15 months later he was sporting B4L tattoos on his legs, signalling his allegiance to the Middle East-dominated Brothers For Life gang.

Pechey claimed to have converted to Islam and was pursuing a life of “peace, loyalty … respect and honesty”.

In 2017 the hulking outlaw was seen in WA and police believed he was recruiting members for the new Perth chapter of Brothers For Life.

Pechey has been a regular customer of the WA justice system since crossing the Nullabor to be with his WA-born partner.

In 2020 he was jailed for 12 months after a two-day drug-fuelled episode in which he threatened to kill police officers after they responded to a domestic violence incident involving him and his ex-partner.

Video surfaced of Pechey pretending to cock a rifle while saying “I’m not here to hurt anyone, if I was you wouldn’t know about it. I could just turn up — click, click, boom.”
