A British influencer has revealed the “problem” she has when it comes to dating Australian men versus men from the UK.
TikToker Georgia Davies moved to Melbourne from York and has amassed 47.3k followers from posting day-in-the-life vlogs to videos comparing her home country to the land Down Under.
Davies shared a video in February to her TikTok saying, “Can we all agree that dating in Australia is just not it – at all.”
The content creator left it up to no debate that Aussie men are “gorgeous” and “exactly” her type however, she pointed out a major trait she thinks many are lacking.
“Give me a man with a moustache any day of the week,” she said.
“However, why are you guys all so shy? I never realised coming from the UK just how confident the men there are.”
Davies thinks men in Australia show “no urgency”.
“I feel like guys just don’t make the first move here, which is a little bit disappointing when you are very single.”
Although admitting most Australians have a nonchalant attitude, she feels this becomes an issue in the dating scene.
“I feel like in general Australians are just a lot more laid back but if you guys could be a little less laid back when it comes to dating, that would be great.”
The comments were filled with people sharing their own experiences.
Some Aussie men wrote they’re “just afraid of rejection”.
“Firstly, I just don’t think I’m attractive enough to be someone’s type so I expect approaching to go poorly and second I have not seen any girl show body language or hints to being interested to do so,” one man said.
While another said to “make it really obvious for us please”.
One commented: “Aussie woman ain’t it, rather keep my peace than date.”
Many women agreed with the influencer.
“Yes this is why my last 2 boyfriends were from the UK even though I’m in Melbourne 😂”.
Another questioned the reasoning for men’s shyness: “like am I ugaleh [sic] why aren’t you coming up to me 😭”.
One wrote that Aussie men are simply not worth the trouble.
“Too many here are toxic and we are better off not approaching anymore, rather go camping instead it’s more peaceful.”
