‘ICAI Must Reconsider The Reasonable Demands’: Aspirants Request Institute to Revise CA May Intermediate, Final Exams 2024

Postpone ICAI CA May Intermediate, Final Exams 2024: The demand to postpone the ICAI CA Intermediate and Final Exams 2024 continues to gain momentum. CA students are urging the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) to postpone the CA Exams scheduled for May 2024 to June 2024, following the 18th Lok Sabha general elections 2024. CA aspirant’s primary concerns revolve around ensuring students can exercise their democratic right to vote and have a peaceful environment for exam preparation amid the clamor of election campaigning.

Sharing posts on social media platforms, aspirants, senior CAs, and education experts expressed their concerns about the impending clash between exam dates and the democratic responsibility to vote. The prospect of choosing between their voting rights and exams has triggered strong calls for the exams to be postponed. Presently, the Institute has not issued any statement regarding this matter.

Sharing a post on X(formally Twitter), CA Archana Yadav wrote an Open Letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to direct the ICAI to delay the CA exams and reschedule them for June 2024. “This May 2024, 4 lacs ICAI Students are scheduled to appear for exams. These exams are coinciding with the Lok Sabha Elections dates. The exams will start from 3rd May 2024 and scheduled to end 16th May 2024. The dates are directly coinciding with elections dates even if at phase level, they may not be impacting all students at same time,” reads the 11-page open letter.

“Even if a student forgets all and concentrates on study, he may end up missing the exams, if the elections crowd of gathering creates a traffic jam in the city restricting/limiting the movement of transport, or loudspeakers or campaigning nearby exam centre is so loud, that the students may not be able to concentrate on writing exams,” the letter further reads.
