Canada Goose to launch first sneakers with Glacier Trail debut

Canada Goose has become the latest luxury brand to step into that key category – sneakers. It’s launching its first ever sneaker line on 18 July, called The Glacier Trail.

The company said the line “intersects style and performance for ultra-versatile wear” and it’s a “significant stride for the brand”.

The “versatile, multi-seasonal, innovative” Glacier Trail shoes draw on the label’s “heritage of functionality and performance” and “fuse unmatched protection, exceptional comfort, and an elevated design”.

They come as a high-top and a low-top shoe for men and women that “deliver peak performance, engineered with innovative, waterproof and breathable materials”. And like most sneakers these days, they’re pitched both as everyday shoes and ultra-functional pieces that work for “the path less travelled, whilst transitioning effortlessly through snow, rain and sun”.

They feature “a sleek breathable waterproof HDry membrane”, a rubberised leather protective wrap and a rubber sole, all geared towards “optimum grip and stability on the toughest terrains, whilst sustaining comfort in the most challenging weather conditions”.

The company said it’s offering “a luxury alternative to the traditional trail shoe”. It comes in suede and premium leather, and neutrals including black, tan, and white, alongside seasonal colourways such as Sundial Orange and Ozone Blue.

Also interesting is the multi-directional tread and heel flare that extends ground contact for enhanced grip and stability on descents and that’s inspired by the maple leaf from the brand’s disc logo.

The 100% breathable microfibre insole lining also offers temperature-regulating properties to keep the foot dry and comfortable, with lightweight support and cushioning and a shape inspired by the patterns of wind-blown snow drifts.

The low and high-top styles both offer a supportive 360-degree lacing system and stretch collar for ankle coverage, with a zipper addition on the high-top.
