Autofocus and image quality

The EOS R1 with its newly developed DIGIC Accelerator and existing DIGIC X processor offers users dramatic advancements in autofocus speed, accuracy and overall image quality.

The EOS R1’s AF functionality features improved subject recognition and accuracy when capturing team sporting events. For example, where multiple subjects intersect, the target subject can continually be tracked even if another player passes directly in front of them.

The EOS R1 also features a new Action Priority AF function to help users capture decisive moments by rapidly analysing the subject’s status. This new AF functionality in a sporting context can analyse and automatically determine the player performing a certain action, such as shooting a ball, as the main subject and instantly shifts the AF frame, thereby helping to capture decisive moments of gameplay.
