Carlton winger Blake Acres has been involved in some of the most clutch moments of the finals series.
His two touches in the elimination final saved the Blues against the Swans before he kicked the goal that sealed the semifinal victory against Melbourne.
But the WA product also been involved in one of the most bizarre moments.
In the preliminary final clash against Brisbane, Acres was in the goal square when Callum Ah Chee threw the ball onto his right boot in the second quarter.
The former Docker couldn’t get a hand on it but he did get a body part on it – his hair.
It was enough to overturn the goal umpire’s decision, which was a goal.
“If Blake Acres is follically-challenged, that’s a goal,” commentator Hamish McLachlan said on Seven.
All the 27-year-old could do was laugh at his luck, but some footy fans failed to see the funny side.
“I’m not sure whether it was touched or not but surely that wasn’t conclusive enough to overturn the original decision which was a goal?,” one said on X (formerly Twitter).
“Support neither team but there is absolutely no way this is conclusive enough to overturn the goal umpires decision!”
“Not sure where the conclusive evidence is to actually change the call…”
After conceding the first five goals of the game, Brisbane kicked three consecutive majors to get themselves back in it.
Captain Patrick Cripps added an extra for the Blues, before the Lions kicked another three in-a-row to take a three point lead into the main break.
