The Sydney Swans have copped it from an unlikely source after being knocked out of the AFL finals by Carlton.
A year on from losing the grand final, the Swans were well out contention for September before sneaking into the top eight with a six-match winning streak late in the season.
But all the potential came to nothing on Friday night at the MCG – and none other than Robbie Williams appeared to take enjoyment out of their six-point defeat.

The English popstar shared a clip of himself, as you can watch in the video above, toasting the final moments on a laptop.
“Every time, every time, every time,” he began to sing as Carlton celebrated.
“Every time I watch the Swans… the Swans have lost to everyone.”
Williams performed before the 2022 grand final and seemingly took note of Sydney’s horror show against Geelong later that afternoon.
The 49-year-old has strong connections to Australia through friendships with the likes of the late Shane Warne, Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman and Delta Goodrem.
It’s safe to say, though, that few would have expected Williams to follow up his grand final appearance with footy banter.
However, Williams can lay claim to having been a Carlton supporter well before the current bandwagon began to fill up.
He received a Blues guernsey from Melbourne musician Tim Metcalfe in 2012 and renewed his ties to the club while in Australia last year.
Carlton coach Michael Voss met with Williams and gifted him a new jumper.
“He came to say hello, we had a great chat,” he told Channel 7 prior to the grand final.
“They bought me a shirt and I’m easily swayed. I also like that emblem, and the navy blue.”
While Williams is clearly down on the Swans, Channel 7 commentator Matthew Richardson believes the future is bright.
The Tigers great offered up a B grade for Sydney’s season and said they’re in good hands with Errol Gulden and Nick Blakey.
Gulden, who kicked two goals from his 23 touches on Friday night, shared his disappointment with the loss in a tough post-match interview with Swans great Jude Bolton.
“It’s kind of hard to digest. We’re proud of our effort, not just tonight, but probably the back half of the season – as a team we galvanised really well,” he told Channel 7.
“But having to come back from half-time, I think we were five goals down and get within a kick, it’s a good effort to be proud of, but it’s pretty hard to look past the disappointment.”
