Carramar make-up artist Pearlin McCarthy wins national award, named best in country

A northern suburbs make-up artist has been acclaimed as the best in the country.

Pearlin McCarthy was named the formal/bridal make-up artist of the year at the Australian Beauty Industry Awards in Sydney on August 27.

This is not her first award: She won the bridal and fashion editorial categories at the 2019 Australian Beauty Awards.

Ms McCarthy has also helped judge the Perth Makeup Competitions and the make-up competitions in last month’s Beauty Expo Australia in Sydney, where she was also invited to conduct a live demo on the main stage.

She has a home salon in Carramar as well as providing mobile services.

She has worked across the State, nationally and internationally, providing both hair and make-up services.

Ms McCarthy believes being a good make-up artist requires a creative imagination, a strong visual sense, patience and good communication skills.

She has a qualification in graphic design from Curtin University and said she had always been fascinated by the power of the visual image, whether on the page or on a face.
