Rangers manager Jo Potter believes the 2-1 win over a previously unbeaten Celtic will give her side the conviction they need to believe they can go on and win the title.
Glasgow City claimed the championship off of Rangers last term but having watched Rangers come from a goal behind to take the spoils against Celtic in the first Old Firm derby of the SWPL season, Potter has urged her side to take every ounce of confidence from the result.
Caitlin Hayes had given Celtic a second-half lead after netted from a corner but it was cancelled out by goals from Kirsty MacLean and Rio Hardy.
It puts them a point ahead of Celtic in the title race – and six points ahead of Glasgow City whose game against Montrose fell victim to Storm Babet.
“That is the mentality shift and we need to see that a bit more in our players,” she said. “They need to believe we are the better team and can be the better team.

“We could happily have sat in and taken the draw but we didn’t and that is the shift and the change.
“I think that is something the players might have to reflect on and realise what they can do.

Celtic manager Fran Alosno admitted Rangers were the better side but was gutted at the manner of his side’s second-half display.

“We did not want to sit deep and just play to protect it but we did that. We just tried to protect the goal and what we did was give them too much time and too much space and when you do that against a team with that quality then you can get punished.
“They were clinical.
“It hurts me to say but they are deserved winners.”
